Latest Updates

Hello everyone
Please find attached the entry form for this years DGV Open Championships to be held Saturday May 26th and Sunday May 27th at Growling Frog Golf Course Yan Yean.
We have secured 9am tee offs on both competition days at both the 1st and 10th tee offs. This is excellent as we will not have the early starters waiting too long for everyone to finish to enjoy the 19th hole.
The Committee decided against booking accommodation but there is a link on the form for what seems to be a nice motel that does has family rooms for those who are keen to share with other golfers attending the Championships.
A recommended way to keep costs down.

There are other motels in the vicinity but looks to be mostly with Standard/Queen etc size rooms. Any queries feel free to email or messenger me.
We look forward to seeing you all for an excellent two days of competition and catch ups at Growling Frog GC in May.

It was a beaut weekend at Albury for the two days DGV 2017 Open Championships for 27 golfers with 17 players from VIC, 10 players from NSW and one from QLD competing also. The course was in perfect condition for playing and we all enjoyed the sunny warm weather on both days.
Three golfers Laura Burns, Wayne Van der Poel (Dutchy) and Phil Harper played their first DGV Championships. We hope they enjoyed the weekend and are keen to play future DGV Championships too.

Hi All
Welcome to the month of May and guess some of us are not looking forward to coming wet and cold days on the course. Lots of reading in both this email and the attached newsletter with photo credits to Heather Burke, Damien Clear and Brendan Fogarty so grab a cuppa sit back and read.
The Deaf Golf Australia Championships 2017 at Wollongong wrapped up last Tuesday 25th April. It was a fantastic event in perfect weather by the surf beach (sorry I cant help mention that) and enjoyed by all who attended. Well done to NSWDeaf Golf with DGA for their excellent organization.
Jack Besley (DGV Team Captain) has written an excellent report which you can read in the attached newsletter No15.(
It was a good showing by the DGV Team against the more experienced and strong NSWDG Team on their turf.
Looking at the results there is the chance DGV may be fortunate to have possibility of the double at the World Deaf Championships at Ireland next year with the Mens Champion and the Womens Champion. Lets get behind Jack and Linda in their quest for those Championships as well as other DGV members who will be part of the DGA Team selected to travel to Ireland in 2018.

Other news is that the Newbie Deafgolf Clinics commence this Sunday 7th May. There are 3 men and 10 women confirmed which is an excellent number. We hope they enjoy the clinics and can join us on future DGV golf days. It is always good to see new Deafies out on the course.

Now an important reminder that Deaf Golf Victoria Open Championships 2017 will be at Albury GC in October 14th & 15th. Entry forms and information re accommodation will be available soon so keep a look out for emails, FB posts and the DGV website in June.

Finally DGV committee welcomes Jack Besley who has accepted a request that his extensive golf experience and knowledge would be much valued contributor as a member of DGV committee. Welcome aboard Jack.
